LIEDERKRANZ WINS GOLD AT GARDA
29 choirs world-wide gathered in Riva del Garda for a four day music festival and competition – In……Canto sul Garda. Throughout the festival the participating choirs performed at different venues and even on the streets. On the second last day all the choirs, in their respective categories, performed for the four judges who evaluated their performances on a score card using various evaluation categories.
On the final night of the Festival the judges presented their evaluations to all the performing choirs in the 3500 seat sanctuary of San Giovani Catholic Church.
Liederkranz Männerchor (men’s choir) form Edmonton, Alberta gleaned the highest marks from the judges in the Senior’s category and were awarded the gold prize.
This trip and event was rewarding experience for the Liederkranz choir members and their followers who travelled with them. This trip was made possible with the financial help from Alberta Gaming Commission Casino proceeds. Liederkranz, by their efforts, with AGC help, have demonstrated to the world the diversity and cultural richness of the Province of Alberta. The moniker, Edmonton is the City of Champions, has once again been confirmed.
