LIEDERKRANZ SUMMER PICNIC JULY 7.18

Thunder & rain could not dampen the spirits at the annual Liederkranz Summer Picnic.

After the clouds passed everyone enjoyed the outdoor pastoral setting of Casa del Mar aka Karen & Wilf’s well-groomed country estate, the picnic site.

Not to be out done by past years, the ‘ladies’ presented their renown baking for the early afternoon Kaffee und Kuchen. Everyone made their best efforts to consume the keg of beer provided by choir patrons, Peter Renz and Paul Lockstad.   After a few games of Bocce and afternoon fellowship the choir sang a medley of their favorites to delight of the picnickers .

Horst Fleischhauer presented pins to long standing choir members – 25 year pin to Ed Janot; 20 year pin to John Gardner; Harry Klann, a pin for 30 years and the longest standing member Guenther Koesling a 50 year pin. Len Kieiser who planned and organized the picnic presented Karen & Wilf Kopp with an honorarium for their hospitality in hosting the picnic.

After the short program the picnic feast was consumed, which featured beer can chicken done to perfection by Odo Gorfer,  tasty & tender schweinbraten prepared by Oswald Gorfer along with numerous salads of all kinds including a to-die-for potato salad.

Everyone dispersed back to enjoyment of the all too short Alberta summer
